| Dennlys Park - Dennebroeucq (view site) |
|
A fantastic day out, designed primarily for under 10's. This is a scaled down
version of the usual Theme Parks, with everything designed for the younger
children. The very little ones can enjoy plenty of goes on swings, slides and
the carousel, while the older generation can ride the 2 roller-coasters, the
monorail and the galloping horses.
The older generation can go on virtually all rides, and there is a special
'out-sized' play area so you can re-live your childhood on scaled up versions
of playground rides.
All rides are included in the entry cost (unlimited number of rides), and there
is a large picnic area as well as lots of free parking.
Thoroughly recommended for younger families - although you are just as likely to
see grandparents taking to the bumper boats or having a quick gallop on the
horses!
Open every day from 10am in June, July and August.

| Buire le Sec |
| This village is about 20 minutes
to the south-west of Brimeux, and there are several places of interest to visit
there: |
| 'La cité des artisans' |
|
Saint Kilien |
| This is a building housing work
by many different craftsmen, and you can buy handmade items in glass, wood,
metal, corn, silk, leather, wax and pottery. The shop is open every day during
July and August, every afternoon during June and September, and weekends during
April, May, October and November. |
|
This is a knitwear factory that sells direct
to the public and is open every day (Mon - Sat) and afternoons (Sunday). The
factory shop is extensive and this is a great chance to buy some high quality
French knitwear at good prices. |
| Musée des Marionnettes |
|
|
This is both a puppet museum and
shop. During July and August there are shows put on, and guided family visits
can also be arranged.
The shop is home to almost every kind of puppet you can imagine, so there is
sure to be something to suit everyone's taste (and wallet!). |

| Watermill at Maintenay |
| This offers the chance
to see the original machinery at this watermill, where grain is still ground in
to flour and used in the small bakery on site. Although the visit is quite
limited, the setting is lovely and the bread is well worth buying. |
| Fabrication de Poteries - Roussent |
| A chance to see a
potter at work and buy some traditional table/kitchen ware. |
| Eurolac - Ardres (view site) |
A relaxing day by the
extensive lakes in Ardres, with the added attraction of battery powered boats
big enough for the family! Entry to the lake area is free, and you can then buy
tickets for use on the bouncy castle, the mini-train, the bumper bikes, or, of
course, the boats.
The boats range from 2 - 6 seaters and are very easy to manoeuvre. Life jackets
are available on site.
Open every day during July and August, plus weekends in April - June and
September - October. |
| La Chocolaterie de Beussent (view site) |
|
Our all time favourite! This unimposing building hides a fantasy for all
chocoholics - the chance to watch chocolates being made by hand, right in front
of you, and then taste some! The smell hits you the second you go in, and it is
virtually impossible to resist buying any chocolates.
These are the best chocolates we have yet found - although we're still looking!
